Factory shock/suspersion replacement question - MY06 IS350
Hello members,
Today I have my car in for recall work and my service rep advised I need to replace my shocks because they see signs of leakage. I have about 160k ish miles and I know it’s probably time to replace, but to be honest my car feels fine and I don’t see signs of uneven wear and tear on my tires. Here are my questions:
1) At what point do I / should I really need to replace my shocks?
2) I have 06 IS350 – is all 06 shock to 2012 the same? I heard F sport have different spring but not 100% certain if the actual shock is the same for all these years. Does newer year (meaning 08, 09, 10, 11, etc…) have better shock quality than My06, if so, which year shock should I buy?
Thanks in advance for all comments

Personally, If my shocks were going bad I would upgrade to a customizable coilover. If you want what you had, you would just get the same stock IS350 suspension (MY 06-12 are the the "same." - Im sure there were minor changes to the composition of the suspension over time). Although I think it was found that the f-sport counterpart was cheaper (thats including new springs on the stock set-up).

Thanks. I used this car to commute so not sure if have a lower spring (f suspension) will help with my tire wear since i believe it's slightly lower. I think the cheapest option is to get the stock shock replacement - since they lasted this long, which I would prefer to use the stock shock again to keep every part original.
