The ground to fender height of a stock 2007 IS 250 AWD is 26.75" for the front and 27" in the rear (mine was used as a reference). I measured them recently to play around with lowered ride heights of lowering springs.

I may just skip all of that and pull the trigger for BC Racing coilovers with Swift Springs upgrade when I have the funds.

I took a screenshot of what I did to contemplate on what lowering springs I wanted to go for, unless I go for coils.

would 07 and 09 be the same height?
i know the 09 awd uses a newer suspension setup,,,im thinking it's a little "higher" than the 06-08
mine is on h&r with 18x8.75 on 225/40
i think front is like 26 and rear is 25.5...forget the exact
on 16" winters now so won't be accurate if i measure
also a friend with 06 is250 awd on tanabe nf210 with 18x8.5 looks lower than i am now (09 on h&r)

also you should consider road magnet, 2" all around and it's linear with 625 lb/in front and 550 lb/in rear
im considering rm + f sport shocks since my shocks r dying and i want to go a little bit lower
canadian winter sucks so don't really want to get made in taiwan pos coilovers, rather get german made bilstein

I want to say that they should be at the same height, but that is something I'm not sure of. Since Florida doesn't experience any snow, there isn't many AWD 2IS around to go about eyeball measuring.

Your summer setup sounds like it keeps the overall wheel diameter, adding the H&R drop amounts to your current dropped height should give you the closest to the stock height that you can get.

I did give Road Magnets consideration, but after seeing a couple of AWD users showing their drop with stock wheels. The drop with the RM didn't look like nice and even drop despite the front and rear dropping an even amount (not a fan of the rear sitting lower than the front). Not to mention I didn't want to go below 25" (which reminds me that <25" should be >25" in my previous post ) with the CV boot and vibration issues.

Worse comes to worst, I'll just go to Sewell and get F-Sport suspension parts and put 18s on and call it a day. Can't go wrong with Eibach and Bilstein.

yes, that's the thing with springs on this car....front higher than rear and left-right not even (lexus lean)
you can also consider s techs as it drops the front much more than the rear (1.7/1 vs eibach 1.4/1)
i have my rm on the way and gonna wait to test it out. with the bilstein....i definitely believe the 09+ awd are higher

Necropost!

I just went outside to measure my floor to fender on 12 year old stock suspension. Pretty much close to the numbers posted on sheet.

My question is does anyone have level surface height measurements after the Fsport spring install?

Assuming it did drop to 25.75" front and rear to 26.25".

Are you supposed to measure from the ground to the highest point of the fender ? (Like in the middle part of the wheel well?)

Here's what you need to be looking at. Provide by "lowbuxracer"

I just measure from ground to fender. This weekend I was able to install my BC coilovers. I couldn't be more happier. At default spring rates 10F, 8R dialed at 9 from full hard front, and rear 14 from full hard. With a 1.00" drop all round at 26.00".

nice. How many settings of stiffness does the bc coilovers have?

my fortune autos have 24.

i am 10 from full hard front

14 from full hard rear

14k front / 10k rear spring rates

as you can see I don’t know what settings to put so I mean it so that they are identical numerically to the spring rate stiffness lol

I've read so much on settings for this. What it amounts to is all a compromise LOL . In the end what I found useful from an article.

JUST SET to what you can tolerate in harshness.

So basically I started 9 from full hard. The BC's are 30 way adjustable. Now on rear I set to 14 from full hard. I got this from the ISF's when they were released for it.

For me 9 was too harsh in front, and 14 too sloppy in rear slightly bouncy. So in the end my go to settings is 11 from hard front, and 11 from hard rear.

With these settings I can tolerate the harshness on crappiest roads in my daily commute. While on smooth freeway man it's a dream. The car is so planted. In the end I'll add a rake stance to my final position, and be done with it. The final end result be 25.75" ground to fender on front, and rear will sit at 26.25" ground to fender.

Mike, settings are for compression only or does it have rebound too? I'm guessing only compression.

For compression and rebound shocks I initially set the compression light, just so you won't bounce off the road. Then dial in the rebound such that neither end packs down.

i.e. if the cars reaction to a series of bumps is to get lower and lower then it has too much rebound damping and doesn't return to ride height after being compressed repeatedly.

With both ends dialed in for rebound now work on compression setting it such that A) it doesn't bottom out over 'your normal daily roads', and B) it doesn't ride too harsh.

The front being a bit heavier may have more but think in terms of ride quality in that a series of bumps or irregularities in the road has both ends of the car doing the same thing. i.e one end is no more or less bouncy than the other.
