Question Fit Kit & Shim Kit

Hi,

Do you have to replace the Fit Kit and Shim Kit (doing rear brakes) or can I use the same ones? Car has 22k miles...2010.

Thanks in advance

You do not need to replace these parts unless they are missing or damaged. At 22k miles it is highly unlikely you would need to replace either of these.

Yep you should be fine. Maybe check see for any damage but I dont see any issues or reason to replace

Agreed! I'm now on my third set of rear brake pads and I'm still using the OE set of shims/hardware. I do have a new hardware kit in the garage ready in case I need to replace something though.

Would it be ok to replace my rear pads with a set from Autozone? These are $49 and come with all the hardware (seems to include what I originally inquired about). If not, would the pads from Sewell parts be better and worth the wait and extra $20. If a difference then I can wait for to order from Sewell.

did you register your username with sewell to get their discount? The rear brake pads there are $47.62 but then you have shipping. Whatever you chose get some anti squeal grease to apply to the shims. If you reuse the old shims get some brake cleaner to clean them up

The rear pads take only 15-20% of the stopping force of the vehicle; so the rear pads aren't so important as the fronts. But a good, quality pad and matching hardware/shims should of course be used.

To answer your question, that's really up to you.
