06 is350 Shock Question
I need to replace my shocks on my 06 is350 sport package. With that being said, here are my options:
1. New F sport shocks with my current springs
2. Used is250 rwd shocks
3. used is350 rwd shocks
Now my question is what is the difference between my "SPORT" shocks vs. just regular is250/350 shocks from the same year? I read around the forum, but couldn't really get a clear answer. I know there will be a slight difference, but how much? I really dont want to spend the $750 for F sport shocks....yes I am being cheap but I have my reasons...
thanks for the input fellas

The shocks are the same; the only difference is that the sport pkg springs offer a slight 1/8th to 1/4 inch drop lower than a "normal" 2IS.
If you are sticking with a stock ride-height (stock springs), just get NEW replacement shocks in all 4 corners. I would pass on purchasing used shocks, unless you're in a financial bind or can get a known good set of 4 for a steal.

The shocks are NOT the same between Sport and non-Sport. The Sport Package shocks are valved considerably stiffer than the non-Sport! Both the springs and shocks are different, and not just ride height, the main difference is how stiff they are.

As someone who's car came with the non-sport suspension and I bought the factory sport springs and shocks, I can assure you, they're different. They have different part numbers and they feel very different.

^I'm sure there are different P/Ns because they are two different pkg'd models of 2ISs; but I personally found that the ride quality (stiffness) between a non-sport and the sport pkg 2IS were the same...at least in my case. I test drove 3 non-sport pkg'd 2ISs and 1 sport pkg in one weekend; they all felt the same on the exact same "test drive" (same streets in all four cases). But I can say that they were all over 40k miles and the "newest" model was an '08. Brand new suspension components all have a break-in period, for which a new set could feel more stiff.
IDK, but this was just my personal experience.
BTW, Jeff is one of our resident Lexus gurus; if I remember correctly, he works at Lexus dealership in Canada. Correct me if I'm wrong Jeff.

I want to add that there are actually 3 different shocks:
Stock, Sport or F Sport package shocks and then the F Sport accessory shocks which is the most stiff out of all 3. You can use either of these 3 on your car. By common sense, i think the stock one is most comfortable and cheapest as well.
