If you damaged your tire on that pothole, you'd eventually see one of those tire tumors forming on the sidewall where the belts would have let go. If that happens, change the tire immediately; it might catastrophically fail if you leave it.

I smacked my car on what we in Montreal call a pothole, but which in fact felt more like I ran over a minor canyon one time. It ruined my alignment, but nothing else happened.
