I am saying if you want to do a full and proper fluid replacement and bleed since you are installing new brakes, you'll need the software activation. I am not saying you'll introduce air into the system when doing your brakes. I am saying you may have air in there that you can't get out doing solely conventional means.
Lexus calls it Air Bleeding Utility
The Techstream software will always have the Air Bleeding Utility option available on screen, but it doesn't mean it applies to every vehicle.
And in reality it applies to less vehicles today that it did about 10-15 years ago.
The IS doesn't have or need this function, conventional bleeding is all you need to get the air out of these brake systems.
If you have a Techstream, feel free to give it a try and let us know how it goes.
The front dust shield doesn't need to be changed if you're an IS350. It actually clears the 14" rotors perfectly fine. The rear just need some cutting and bending of the dust shield but we all knew that. Other than that, complete bolt on. no changes in suspension. no hubs, no shims, no knuckle swap, etc. Everything in the picture above is all that is needed. brake line bolts on too. needs 18" or larger wheels. clears F-Sport wheels. no spacers needed. conventional bleeding was fine. Needed two toyota brake fluid to complete the job.
So to do a 350 fronts all I would need is a calipers from a is f and the rotors off a gs? No brackets no hub? I read for the 2nd gen u would need the isf hub as well. Sorry for all the questions definitely want to do this.
Yes that's correct.
FRONT:
IS-F front caliper. 2013+ GS350 F-Sport rotors. no bracket, no hub needed. This setup would also work for 2nd gen IS.
Rear:
IS-F rear caliper. IS-F rear rotors. Bracket needed. This is only for 3rd gen IS. 2013+ GS, and 2015+ RC.
IS-F rear caliper and IS-F rear rotors are bolt on for 2nd gen IS. no bracket needed.
Im willing to bet this setup weighs more than stock 350 brakes. while gs f-sport rotors have aluminum top hats, the isf calipers are massive. doubt theres any weight savings but im curious i could be wrong..
I’m going to attempting this back calipers are in so is my rear isf rotors still waiting for front calipers rotors and I’m on the waiting list for a bracket...I also need to get these calipers painted or powder coated and rebuilt
