Default Steering wheel has play

Hello, I just got an sc300 about a 2 months ago. Unfortunately, I was hit by someone who wasn't paying attention at a stop sign. His front bumper pretty much smashed right into my passenger fender/wheel. Since the accident there seems to rotational noise over 25 mph, which I think the wheel bearing could've been damaged. Along with that, my steering wheel now has play turning left to right and vice versa, it makes switching lanes/turning on the freeway difficult as the car turns slower than the steering wheel and when it does it turn it goes really fast into the curve. I was wondering what I should take a look at to see if it needs replacement?

Cool to see another Bay Area sc.

But I would check all your suspension on the side. Especially your inner and out tie rods.

Always nice to see another local on the forums. Thanks for the reply, hopefully it doesn't require too much to repair.

play in the steering wheel...
check tie rods! those are usually the culprit

also check your rack bushings. they might have cracked under impact (afterall they are old and dried out pieces of rubber)

Thanks I'll take a look at the tie rods and rack bushings when I get the chance.

usually the rack bushings give out but since you have had an accident you could have a damaged/broken steering componenet like the tie rod and you should really have it inspected before doing anymore driving.
rack bushings are just annoying, a damaged tie rod can be very dangerous when it finally goes.

Thanks Ali, I've been meaning to get it inspected but I've been caught up with finals but will have it checked out soon.
