coilovers vs. springs/shocks

do the coilovers. I did springs first on my 3gs and then had to go to the full tein CST with EDFC. It would have been easier and cheaper if I just did it right from the get go

numerous factors are involved to answer your question (i.e. how low, are they rebuilt, is your car a daily or not, etc, etc, etc)
fyi, there's a strong following who are pleased w/tein suspension while there are others who prefer other mfr's.
i enjoy HKS, just my 2 cents

Woah,
So you seem to know what you are talking about. I am not sure what to get as far as coilovers and if I do what else do you need to swap out. I am not looking to drop my GS430 6 inches or anything and don't want to kill the ride. I have a 2001 with 120k miles on it and it is stock everything. I have seen Megan, NEX, HR etc. It makes me nervous to not go stock b/c of what else it may do to the car. Driving in Ohio lowered in the winter seems rediculous to me but I guess if they are adjustable it wouldn't matter. Thanks.

Looking for some recommendations here. 99 GS400 on original shocks and springs, stock 16 inch wheels. Might go up to 17 eventually. Need to replace shocks. Already did lbj, camber arm, tie rod ends. Will do more bushings front and rear, probably Daizen, as I go. I would be ok with a little drop but I'm not looking to do anything very radical. Just want better ride and handling. So, coilovers or shocks, and what do you recommend in the way of brands currently in both categories. Thanks. (btw, I've read everything I could find on CL, but still can't make up my mind.)

In NY as well as in much of the east coast, with the potholes and dilapidated road conditions coilovers are a big waste, you cant even enjoy it... I went with tanabe df210 with kyb gr2 and I am very happy. Nice drop and the ride is very close to stock. That and being that I still have stock rims... Cant speak as yet for when I put my 20's on... lol

Thinking of going with JIC VIP's coilovers, what do you guys think, I have 20's and sometimes I carry passangers, plust streets in L.A are bad... Would that be my best choice?
