Brake master unit removal question

Brake master unit removal
EDIT: The 4 bolts under the dash are 13MM, not 12MM and it needs to be a deep socket 13MM with a wobble and long extension to get to it. It's easiest to remove the lower trim panel and then have someone hold the brake master so it doesn't fall once it's loose. The thing is heavy.
I can't seem to find the answer to my question.
Do I need to do anything special with the brakes before I remove the BMC lines and unit?
Thanks,
Ryan

Q: "Do I need to do anything special with the brakes before I remove the BMC lines and unit?"
A: Judging from your question, I'd recommend you have someone with brake experience assist you. It's not difficult at all to remove the BMC, but you will have to re install the brake lines afterwards and it's easy to F'em up without having a feel for it first. Bleeding is easy also, but again it's best to have someone help you first if you've never done it yourself first.
But to answer your question: No, you don't "have to do anything special with the brakes" before you remove the BMC. Assuming I understand your question correctly.
fyi: With the BMC removed, it's a lot easier to replace the driver side valve cover and gasket.
fyi: The BMC won't fall after you remove the nuts from the bolts from the interior. You might feel it move a little but it's hanging on it's studs so it won't "fall". Or you could just wedge something under it. That's what I do to hold it in place when re-installing it. Done it several times this way w/o issue.
