Default Caster problem on is350

Hey guys,

I got an alignment a while back and the guy at the shop said theres a caster issue and that it would take a major job to fix only because "Caster issues are major". I cant really recall what else he had said but that was basically it and at the time I didnt pick his brain.

I have an aftermarket warranty thats pretty legit so im thinking about taking my car in to have them examine the issue. I'd just like to be able to talk about what could potentially be influencing this caster issue and was hoping you guys could give me a quick breakdown of what it may be, that is if caster is influenced by a few parts.

The original alignment shop said an aftermarket upper adjustable ball joint would help the issue but not resolve it.

Any other insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

there is no factory adjustment for caster on the 2is. if you caster is out, it is obviously important to check the car out thoroughly. If you can't find obvious issue that is causing the caster problem, you can adjust the caster with the replacement of your lca bushings in the front of the car but I'm not too sure about the rear. Lexus offers different offset replacement bushings for the front LCA bushings to correct the caster based on how your caster is out of spec. However, I would recommend working with FIGS and getting their LCA bushings while your changing them out to fix the caster and improve the overall "feel" of the car at the same time.

Be honest, did you hit a curb at speed or have an accident or something to cause this?

Like what was mentioned, IF your "arms" are all in good shape then I'd start with some FIGs bushings.

Does the car pull? If not, who cares? Caster won't wear tires. You aren't running around a race track in it, so I probably wouldn't worry about it.

Post your alignment print out if you have one.
