Brake Job Opinion (Rotor, caliper, pads)
Looking at doing both front and rear brakes in the next few weeks. Plan on replacing the Rotors, Pads, and Calipers. I have a 2000 GS 300 with 193,000 miles on it. While I would prefer OEM I dont want to brake the bank here (no pun intended). What are your opinion with Autozone Duralast for the rotors, pads and calipers. I can get all 4 wheels done for about $600, are there similarly priced better options out there?

I got front and back rotors and pads from rock auto. I think it was about $240 for everything. Get an additional discount if you got to retailmenot.com. They work better than stock. Personally the brakes suck on these cars.

My suggestion, look into going with LS400 brake kit. They're cheaper, look better and I believe slightly bigger. Or even go with TT supra brakes. Both kits' calipers are bigger and when painted look sick. Best to paint them since they're all off the car already.

I just did my '01 GS300 Brakes all the way around for with Drilled and slotted rotors, ceramic pads...
$220 shipped from Prime Choice Auto Parts on Amazon.
all 'performance' parts.
So far all is well.... maybe 100 miles on em....
They do seem like good quality
The only thing was the rear rotors didn't clear the parking brake backing plate and I had to shave it just a little... this is a common issue people run into on these... you never see em, so it's not a cosmetic concern

From what I can tell to install the LS400 brakes I would need to either shave down a bolt or attach a bracket for clearance. Is this true for both front and rear brakes? Could you please attach some links on where to buy the LS400 kits?

With the high cost of the RCA spacers plus alignment cost I dont think I am going to go with the LS400 and I really dont want to grind the caliper. Someone mentioned Powerstop rotors and pads. Are these a good value at areound $270 for front and rear pads and rotors? Any suggestions for calipers?

I know, I meant with the high costs of the RCA's I dont want to go that route, and to go with out the RCAs I would have to grind the calipers and dont want to do that either. I think I am just going to order some calipers on rockauto and call it a day.

ah ok. yeah rcas do cost quite a bit. but its cause theyre not heavily mass produced so the cost stays high
buuuuuttt. you could rebuild your calipers and save a bunch of money since rebuild kids are cheap. its just messy cause of the brake fluid. then theres the hassle bleeding the brakes again. but if you got the time, you can save moneyzzzzzzzzz
