Help! 2006 AWD Front right HUB ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
I was reading through the forums for some clarity on hub assembly replacement and many answers to the threads I found were very basic and didn't suggest anything special to the bolt removal on the hub.
So far I've done the following:
-removed tire caliper and rotor
Now I'm stuck on the 32mm bolt.
I can't get the darn thing to remove.
*I have sprayed pb on it and let it sit and I then slightly tapped with a chisel (as I saw on another thread to loosen the edges of the bolt but the silent voice in my head said to stop and come here; because chiseling at a bolt that holds my hub in sounded a bit ridiculous. 😜
Note: I've been working with a breaker bar and a steel pipe. I do not own any pneumatic tools as I've never needed them.
Thanks in advance.... I have never done a hub replacement before, so insight would be great! maybe I'll do my first full DIY while
I'm at it if I make it through this at home!
Thanks in advance!

Try popping out the center cap out of the wheel, and reattach the wheel to the hub. Lower car so that the vehicle's weight is sitting on the wheel. Assuming the socket fits through the center wheel hub hole AND you have unstaked the axle nut like Jeff mentioned, this should do it.

Stake?
First off, thank you for the reply back. Any information is good at this point. I wasn't aware that the nut needed to be "unstaked". I've never heard of this before as I've only seen nuts with cotter pins which ovbiously I realized mine does not have one at this point.
Is there a proper tool to buy to do this?
And... Possibly a how to? I cannot seem to find a good YouTube how to or post and I've asked a couple of mechanic friends who are into familiar with the cotter pin nuts.
Also, after removal am I ABLE to replace this type of nut with a cotter pin but for easier removal in the future or are these specific to our hub assembly's?

I just did mine the other day, replacing my hub. It's actually a 30mm with 12 points. I put the socket on my breaker bar and I used my long hydro jack pole to help me break it lose. Make sure you going the correct way to unlosen it. The longer the pipe is, the easier it will to unlosen it

What I assume the factory does is they install the nut onto the axle stub and once at torque spec they "stake" it, which is simply when they take a punch and reses a small portion of the nut into the notch in the axle stub. To undo this process, use a punch or screwdriver (if you don't care about damaging it) and tap/hammer out that indention of the nut in the notch.
Good luck!
Good luck!
