Changed parking brakes on this side and rotors, now clicking noise?
I can't figure this one out. Ive had the rotors off a half a dozen times trying to see what this is...
Its light in sound, almost like something is caught in the spokes of a bike.
I am looking to take the parking brake shoes off to see if there is something there, but I don't see any wear on anything except the backing plate is rubbing some on the rotor, which I am grinding it away some (down bottom). My guess is old rotors were already worn down there. But my concern for the wear is could it be wheel bearings? But no noise at all, until now, but I haven't heard a wheel bearing make this sorta noise.
1. It does not make a difference is the brakes (foot or parking) are applied
2. It gets quieter in turns (rules out wheel bearing?)
3. It clicks exactly 6 times per tire rotation. Forward or backwards. A little quieter in reverse.
4. It does it with the wheel on the car or not.
I'm going to go out now and pull the brake pads out and see if that changes it.

My parking brake assembly had just disintegrated to the point where it was grinding against the rotor.
When I pulled the rotor, the parking brake parts just tumbled out
Yea, the head on my pin had been ground off; I just ripped it all out after that.
Gotta put that on my list of things to repair

My son has a 98 Avalon and the parking brake never has worked, we pulled the rotor and figured out why, no shoes, no hardware, nothing.... All taken out.
It is so nice now for the first time having the parking brake work on my car, before it was sooo lame, it barely did a thing.
