Default Shocks or dampers?

Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie on the forum here so hi!

I have an IS200 2003 (not the sport) and I have a bad knocking sound on the front end over smallish bumps.

I have taken it to the my normal garage (been going there for years) who couldn't find anything wrong and when it had its MOT they also put it on the "shake plates" and still couldn't find anything.

I thought it might be shock absorbers, dampers or bushes but I am not 100% sure and I don't want to go and spend loads of money and not cure it.

Thing is, if I take it to another garage for a second opinion and they say its shocks or whatever, how do I know that I'm not being ripped off and that that is the actual problem?....

Its a shame as the car is whisper quiet apart from that... its awful!

Any advice would be great!
