Which Are The Best Brakes?

Robert,
Unless you plan to take your car to a road course (track) or show it, IMO the best brakes for your GS are the STOCK brakes. While they don't have the best pedal feel, they stop the car better than most other cars in the class of the GS and many high end sports cars.
Upgrading brakes is a very expensive proposition ($1200 - $3000 to start for the front) and unless you're going to track it or show it, very low on my personal bang-for-the-buck mod meter. Big brakes serious limit the aftermarket wheels you can add to the car as well, because you have to find wheels you like that come in high disk fittment in order to fit over the brake calipers.
If you just like the look of the cross drilled rotors, painted calipers, you can still do those with your stock brakes. And they'll stop your car just fine.
Having said that, I have Supra TT upgraded front brakes on mine, what I'd consider an effective 4-piston brake upgrade about 1/2 the price of other options. RMM and a couple of other manufacturers sell these exact same brakes for more money than you can get them direct from Toyota.

ap racing, 2800
brembo, 3000
endless, 3800
stoptech, 2500
those are the four i would get.
you need high disk offset for your rims, and offset actully doesn't do little to the brake clearance. it's different from rims to rims. you need to do more research to get it right
and don't use caps

I have a friend that did 15inch Stop/Tech's all around on his SC430. He seems to be happy with them. Not sure how much he paid but they look $$$$$$

ECB Pads
I would reccomend using stocks Lexus also.
In December 2002 I put on ECB pads all around.
Early this month Lexus had to replace the rear pads which were totally worn down. I don't drive particularly "hard" no had I done big mileage. I was disgusted. The front pads are only 20% worn though.
The only benefit I got from the ECB pads was reduced brake dust therefore cleaner wheels.
There was no difference in breaking power at all. ECB claim their pads are always superiour to stock which also dissapointed me.

Thanks I saw your other post. A person who I told about this rear pad wearing wanted to know if the GS uses the pads as the handbrake brakes and that it may be something to do with it if so.
I also have an issue with a shake, judder, through the steeringwheel I can feel substantially when I brake at higher speeds. The breaking is not affected and is strong. Lexus dealer said there was no reason except front discs has a small lip which didn't warrant changing them. Hmmm...
