Brakes on a Leased 2015 250 F-Sport
I hoping to get some help as I could not find info searching in the forums. I've got 2 questions as I believe I need to change the pads on my front brakes as they squeal when stopping:
1) Since I'm leasing this vehicle, do I need to have the work done by a Lexus dealership?
2) I've got 13,689 miles on the car and picked it up from the dealership on 8/31/2014. It this the typical life span on these brake pads?
Thanks in advance for any feedback/help.

Squeaking from the front brakes is normal due to the f sport performance, hence a lot of brake dust as well. I've taken mine to dealer and said pads are good with about 8500 miles. If you really want you can get aftermarket brakes and replace them, but I don't see the need for that. And no you don't have to get work by the dealer, but preferable.

No, you're not obligated to take your leased car to the dealer for service. You're free to service your car at any dealership, shop, or private party (your garage or a friends, etc.).
Replacing the brake pads on these cars is extremely easy so I would suggest you do the work yourself if you have the equipment. Buy your pads from RockAuto or the dealership and be done with it.

@Toh & @ExSrAaron - thank you very much for your feedback. I've seen discussion on pad replacements. Do you have any suggestions on replacing with ceramic vs OEM?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

You don't need to replace your pads because they squeal.
If they sound like they are grinding or vibrating the steering wheel when braking, yes.

Anybody can change the brakes but keep receipts for everything. Especially if it's someone doing it at home, all warranty companies want to see receipts for items purchased for some proof the work was done
Also, ceramic leads to more wear on the rotors and the regular leads to more dust so pick your poison
I would never wait to feel grinding before changing brakes, that can mean you waited too long and it's now metal on metal braking contact
