Default Front upper ball joint popped out and clunking.

hi guys new here...

1.)
i was reinstalling the stock suspension and noticed the front upper ball joint on the driver side has popped out. how did this happen? and importantly, how do i fix this?

i am not familiar with these ball joints, but quickly did a little research. is there supposed to be a snap-ring or c-clip of some sort on top also?

2.) also there is a clunking on the front passenger side that only clunks at a certain point of rotation. triple checked all the bolts (shock, sway bar, and castle nut) and, loaded the suspension to torque to spec. what could cause the clunking?

tia!

buy new upper a arms. they aren't that expensive. the balljoint is one unit in the a-arm. yours are shot.

clunking is the ball joint, its not even on the a arm anymore. it should be clunking when you are turning the steering wheel and hitting a bump at the same time.

i have seen upper balljoint/camber kits so i know they're replaceable, was wondering if its fixable how it is now, and how it happened. the car drove fine on coilovers previously.

well the clunking is on the opposite side of the popped out ball joint.

^Blown shock. Just replaced one of my BCR shocks that sounded very similar to that when hitting bumps, holes, un-even pavement just last month.

we just tried pushing down on the fender and rocking the car, but did not hear any noises at all. the clunking is consistent even on a smooth road.
