New brakes at 13k mi?
My brakes are screeching on a daily basis and getting more noticeable while driving. Is it theme to change brakes already at 13k miles? Anyone change their brakes this soon?

I did mine at 12000 to upgrade the pads for less brake dust and noticed that the OEM pads were getting low, so doesn't seem uncommon.

Had my brake pads replaced at just over 13k miles. Service rep said they were at 2%. Heard grinding noises and thought it was going to be a warranty issue. Service rep said he's seen someone come in with 7k needing new pads. Says the Fsport brakes wear quicker than the regular brakes.

On my 14 Is250 fsport I replaced the rear rotors/pads and upgraded the front rotors/pads/calipers to Is350 at 17k. My rear rotors looked worse than the ones in"316's" pictures and my fronts were on their last legs and needed to be replaced.

My car is at 12k miles and having the grinding noise, also noticed today the front rotors have a lip already. This is not normal, my BMW brakes would last 3.5 to 4 years easily why do these wear so fast on a new car.

I just replaced the front pads at 18k (IS350 F Sport) the rear pads look brand new. And both rotors were fine. I had about 1 mm left of the pad until the indicator mark, so probably around 2000 miles left on them. Super easy to do and only costs around 50 bucks.

Picked up the ACT1118 this AM at advance auto for 79.99; more expensive than online. However, I had no choice since I don't want to wear the rotors any further. This sucks, never had brake pads wear this quickly. My BMW took 40-50k miles before pads are worn traveling the same route that I do today. And I actually drove the BMW harder than this car, I could understand if I had tracked the car but this is all street driving.

Update: just changed the pads, completely worn out, right side was down to less than a mm and driver side less than 2mm...so lucky, any longer would have destroyed the rotors. Folks, don't waste time, as soon as you hear the scratching sound change pads immediately; better yet, check the thickness just to be safe.

I consider pads that have lower dust to be a downgrade. My pads are about set to be done in about 1,000 miles or so. Right now I'm at 10,500 miles. Lexus asked me if I want high dust or low dust pads, I told them I want HIGH dust pads. They're the high performance ones. Low dust, and you sacrifice stopping power and might t-bone a car.
Always go with the higher dust option. Higher performance available from Lexus--at no extra cost.
There's no free rides. You choose stopping power or clean wheels. Cannot have both.
Also screeching, etc. is not a big deal. Wash your wheels often making sure to spray the brakes down and it won't do it.
