OEM or after market pads & rotors? Rotor min spec?
Need to do brakes on my weekly driver SC300.
OEM pads are not too bad, checked LexusPartsNow.com (4) $106.00
But the rotors (If I need them seemed a bit much) (4) $360.00
Anyone have good luck with aftermarket brake parts on these?
Brand? Link? Source?
Not trying to cheap out on brakes.
(joke)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Kit-Rep...dYmoxJ&vxp=mtr
But this is just a fun xtra car in the stable.
Also, what is the Fr & Rear min. rotor thickness?
Thanks!

Assuming you have aftermarket wheels, you may be able to upgrade with an LS400 brake setup. Would be a good time to do so. If you don't want to piece it together yourself, there's someone in Craigslist that sells the entire kit in SoCA section.

In that case, you can get OEM toyota pads off eBay for a little over $100 for F&R, and just generic replacement rotors for a bit more. Only thing I would recommend is to paint the hats because they will get surface rust developing on them if you don't (mine did).
Do a search on Craigslist for... "sc300 sc400 brake upgrade kit LS400 caliper"... and it should come up.

Ebay is more $$$ than LPN.com on the oem pads?
Have not measured my rotors yet, anyone have the spec. ?
And its tough for me to just pick a rotor Co. without a recommendation.
They are probably all OK? Just the thought of warped rotors gives me the chills.......
Here are a few. $82 to $182 ...Thoughts?
$82.00 for (4) shipped?

Its good to look into this stuff. Found out yrs ago E30 M3's use 5 series rotors.
Saved quite a bit on that one. Buying 5 series rotors over the E30 M3 part.

To end this one, went the budget route.
Centric Posi-Quiet Ceramic pads from Rock Auto and was able to turn the 4 rotors. ($15.00 ea)
$125.00 ....... brake job complete..........
Curious to see how these pads do. But only drive the car a couple/few thousand miles a year.

Thanks, this one is weekly at best over daily. Still have .020 rear - .030 front left on the OEM rotors.
Have a 1990 E30 M3 and a 94 NSX that I go the opposite route on.
But on this one, am happy with what I have..... )
Good to know budget rotors worked for you. Thanks. Have looked, but never tried them.
Rock auto has some for this car that are in the $12-$15.00 range.
Said to be discontinued. But that stuff always scares me.
Turned the ones I had as they were true & had some meat left.
Will replace next time around.
