Default Lower Ball Joints Bad on My 1999 SC300

Trying to find replacement lower ball joints for my 1999 SC300, but have only found the ball joint with the lower control arm. Is it that Lexus doesn't sell the ball joints alone??? They are running about $500 per arm. Is this a rare failure on the SC300??

Also in need of a very good mechanic here in the Triangle area of North Carolina.

Thanks for helping!

Hi There,

I bought Supra arms and they are great. Call your local toyota dealer ship and see how much they cost. Lexus Arms will cost alot. Please, do not cheap out when it comes to this car and control arms its a matter of life and death. Get new arms.

Unfortunately for us SC owners Lexus did not see fit to make replaceable ball joints on these cars, and do to the fact that they were a rich mans toy they figured they could afford to replace the whole arm. Supra mk4 lower front control arms fit and are about half the price of OEM Lexus. I have seen varying prices on OES genuine parts, but still pricey.

Part numbers have been posted on here several times, look through the stickied posts at the top of this page. If I get a minute I'll link it for you. If you do a search of the forum I am sure it is on here many times.

Wanted to ask for the people who used Supra arms instead of Lexus OEM, do you guys notice any difference vs stock OEM arms?
Read on a sticky thread here that the supra arms is more stiff, and you will feel the road and everything more.
I have coilovers and I already feel the road enough and every bump, I don't want to make the ride comfort worse with the supra arms.
Any thoughts?

I'm unable to comment on that since i don't have new suspension. Although. i have new upper and lower arms, and the front feels so much softer than the old arms. If you have good suspension (my opinion) it should feel better than what you have now.

I don't think you will notice a difference, but maybe you are more discerning than I am. Of course my only comparison is old worn out Lexus arms vs. new Supra arms so it has always been an improvement. The only difference is the rubber bushing in the rear part of the arm. The Lexus bushing has some reliefs in them, the supra bushings are solid rubber. I really can't see how that results in a major, noticeable difference but maybe it does.
