I always thought JIC was a pretty durable product... No clue as to what could have broken it? Kinda wierd to think the weld broke. Good luck fixing this or gettin it replaced.

I wouldnt blame JIC right away for poor product quality. Its quite common for a weld to break. There are many factors which may cause this. Its also common for aluminum to crack without even bein welded. Just get it rewelded, you might never have the problem again. My 2c

My friend has a Cusco strut bar on his Silvia and it cracked at the weld too. Must be the weld job?

Are these darn STB's suppose to be hollow inside like that...? Thats kinda wierd that it broke...
tubular design is ten times stronger than a solid bar.

Weld?!?!?! I think the problem is they are all a POS.......not to offend anyone

They are "all show and no go" items. Only expect it to look good. Ask any serious racer, as these cheap bars usually make you car handle worse, due to them mis aligning your suspension geometry. Quoting textbook theory as to why they SHOULD improve your performance is one thing, but reality is another. Keeping in mind that a true, functional STB is not pretty to look at. But I'm not complaining or flaming......

Keith, come on...nearly every serious drift racer in Japan uses them. Please don't spread bullshiat like that. 3 point STB's are better, but 2 points are far from "useless" or "harmful". I have personally installed 2-point STB's on several different cars and they all made a difference in handling (for the better)...and you can make anything "pretty". I've seen many ugly *** 2 point STB's too so what does that prove...just cuz their ugly doesn't make them more functional or vice versa.

As for not being surprised that they broke, how many broken ones have you seen exactly? In all the years I've been around the scene, this is the first one I've seen (from a car that wasn't involved in some kind of accident of course).

And what racing classes don't allow 2 point STB's? I've only heard that in "stock" classes (where they don't allow any type of mods except for better tires or something)

Honestly- about 5 or 6..... and its always the nice and shiney ones..... makes you wonder.

I see far too often people putting these things on their stock cars and not having them adjusted correctly. The car feels stiffer, so people think its making the car handle better, but all its doing is mis alligning the struts. W/o camber / castor adjustments (like on a coilover), it really isn't practical. But hey, thats just my opinion. And like I said- I wasn't flaming.

Some updates: JIC said they would replace it, if it was purchased from one of their dealers, I need to show an invoice.

I purchased this bar from ebay. JIC indicated it may be a knockoff. I will take some pics of the documentation that came with the product, hopefully this will prove this was not a knockoff.

I will keep you guys posted.

I'm glad to hear they stand behind their product. Lets hope they're reasonable about your paperwork.

You might want to thry to contact the seller from e-bay and expain the story and say you need the purchasing receipt for the warrenty. Its worth a shot.

If not, maybe someone here might have a receipt you could get copy of.

Good luck with it all.

Default JIC Magic

I see what happened to the strut tower bar.

My boss and I talked it over a we both agree that there is a 90 day warranty on all of our products

You also got it from ebay, lots of times people who sell products on ebay have alreay been damaged.

We can not know for sure. We must follow the rules we have if not we would get people distroying there

own parts just so they can get new ones.

But we will take care of you. Seeing how it's our product. My boss said for this one time he will give you a

35% discount on a new sturt tower bar. Seeing how the old one broke, we don't know how it broke it could

have already been broken when you got it or it could have been installed wrong.

But never the less we will help take care of it.

I will always try to take care of my JIC customers

Are they replacing it, or just giving you a 35% discount on a new one?
