Stuck Sway Bar End Link Nut - Ideas?
I am attempting to change my front sway bar end links (as part of sway bar upgrade) on my '98 GS4. I can't get the old ones off the car..... The link has a bolt with a nut that attaches to the No. 1 Lower Suspension Arm at 83 ft. lbs. of torque (per service manual).
My issue is that the bolt spins (despite splines on the other end) when I attempt to loosen the nut. I've got a large ratchet with a "helper pipe" over it and all I can do is spin the whole bolt. Do I need an impact wrench? I don't see a way to put a wrench on the other end to hold the bolt.... Car is very clean and rust free underneath. Ideas welcomed. Thanks!
