lowering an sc on 20's
hi,
i recently put on a set of 20s and there is a considerable gap betweent he body and front tires (the SC's sit pretty high stock).
well my question is if it is possible to lower the car about an inch or two with these rims .
what are good lowering kits available for the sc?
ive attached a pic of the car to show what i mean
thanks...

that's like 3.5 or 4 inch drop. the only way to do that is with hydrolics or air suspension.
coilovers could get you close but the SC will have a hard time getting anywhere when its dumped like that.
springs/shocks will get you 1 to 2 inches.

BE VERY CAREFUL when you lower your SC's on 20's (or the Fat 19 setup) because if you do make as low as your photochopped photo, if you hit a dip, you are going to bottom out HARD. VERY HARD. And under the front fender (driver side) is the main wiring harness AND an airbag sensor line (under the fender liner)...with the car that low, you WILL rub through the fender liner and right through the main harness housing and you'll start eating away at the wire insulation. Not to mention that it will also mess with your steering if you hit a dip or bump (it can jerk the steering one way or the other depending on which side it hits on)
Bottom line, the SC SUCKS when it comes to lowering it that low on 20's. I has some of the most pathetic front fender wells I've seen on a car. Very shallow wells...
I HIGHLY recommend against lowering it that low....I found out after I ate through some of my wire insulation (but it was fixed and the entire setup was re-routed)...

I see some of you with 20's have lowering shocks on them. I have 18s on mine now with 225/40/18 rubber and it seems like my car is sitting on them, no rubbing though, the question I have is do I need to get at least new shocks, struts just to put the 20s on. If not will 19s fit fine stock , because they are costing me more.

I had Eibach and tokicos with my 20s and its a prefect drop, any lower it will bottem out like crazy like manaray said. I now have Canover air suspension and when I ride to low and hit a dip man.....
My ride on canovers. Note that I cannot drive it that low the tires will rub like crazy...
