Default Stock height w/ Seibon Kit

I have a Seibon kit all around and I'm pleased with the ride height appearance that the kit gives the ride, but I'm considering going lower with some RS-R Downs since the wheel gap makes me nauseous. I'm not sure, however, if I should drop since I really don't want to scrape the hell out of the lip since it's pricey and I'm not looking to upgrade wheels any time soon.

Any thoughts on If I can get away with an inch - inch 1/2 drop?

Here are some pics on how low the lip and skirts make it look.

That wheel gap is atrocious lol. If I’m being honest with you, the RSR Downs only make me scrape my wind deflectors here and there, but not my actual bumper or anything IF you’re careful. For you I’m not sure anything but coil overs makes sense because half downs you’ll still have a wheel gap. If you’re cool with still having a wheel gap then go with the half downs. That kit looks really good though.

I measured the front of the lip and it is 6.5" up from the ground and the corners are 6 3/4" of the ground. I'm guessing that I should have around 2" to play with....maybe?

What do you mean by scraping your wind deflectors? I'm thinking the wind deflectors on the windows lol

The little tire flaps on the front that deflect wind from the tires or whatever. They are there for “efficiency” purposes lol

Oh I see.

Did some more research and went through the million posts on the RS-Rs this weekend so I'm leaning towards the RS-R Halfdowns or Downs. Superdowns look great, but that's not gonna happen since my wife drives the car occasionally.

A conservative option would be half downs or f-sport springs and 15mm spacers all around. to further close the gap, you could upsize the tires slightly within about 5% and that should take care of it. I think either of these options would work:

F: 235/40/18 R: 265/35/18
OR
F: 225/45/18 R: 255/40/18

This is assuming you're ok with the "meaty" sidewall look with the factory wheels.

Interesting. I haven't given much thought to a meaty tire or spacers. Ugh... now more to consider Thanks for the tire sizes. I'm going to check them out.

Definitely lower it, just have to be careful on dips and driveways. Take it little slower and angle it!

RSR or Swift are great choices.

I'm really digging the meaty tires tbh. I've seen a ton of Beemers and some JDMs but not many 3IS - and definitely none in my area, but that may be a good thing .

Please don't sacrifice me for posting a picture of a Beemer, but these meaty tires look insane. I think I prefer this over the wagon-wheel look.

Thoughts?

Josh, would you mind explaining the difference in drop and handling between the two? I know nothing about Swifts. Also, can you PM me a quote for each? I'm in Tampa, FL.

Feel free to text me at 213 394 2886 and I can answer any questions.

Swift and RSR drop are very similar. I like personally chose Swift over RSR and I enjoy the ride and performance of the Swift. Hard to get technical and explain why ones better than the other.

Just a side note. When I rode really low with coilovers, I scraped my seibon lip pretty hard here and there and it never cracked or anything. I was quite impressed with how strong it is. Thing just won't give in.

Good to know. I have a few scrapes but all clear coat as of now. I hope it stays that way after the Swift springs.
