Default BRAKE light and TRAC light (related?)

Day 2 owning this car and i got me some lights!!! WooHoo!!! lol

So, a bit of a dumb question about the "Brake" light but i thought it correlated to the actual E-brake engagement and nothing more? is it actually a diagnostic/warning light as well or what?

Both lights come on after startup but more specifically after i engaged into gear (auto trans).

I will check for brake fluid and pad wear but I was wondering if anyone has encountered these two lights simultaneously before and what a common/probable cause is on these cars.

So -- An Update -- I went out there and noticed the Brake Fluid reservoir was on Min... so i topped it off to Max. Started the car. lights came on, i pumped the brakes twice. about 5 seconds of idling later Both lights are off. Drove it around the block and lights have remained off...

Would low fluid really cause both those lights? I don't think so. I'm happy for the moment but I have a feeling there's more to it.
