Stock Ride Height

Stock Ride Height
I purchased an abandoned 2008 IS 350 from a local tow yard. proprietor reported the car was towed by police for being unregistered and it had the right rear rim destroyed by a serious curb/pothole impact. Uncertain - except the right rear rim (18" Lexus OEM) required replacement. Tires are well worn, and soon to be updated with original equipment sized summer rubber, but 1st things first. It's LOWERED to a point where I fear driveway aprons and simple everyday South Jersey parking lot (somehow speed bumps have infiltrated the area) maneuvers. The shocks look to be Lexus branded and have coil over adjustment rings? Are the stock shocks adjustable? I suspect not, just wish I knew if I could simply - crank these adjustment rings and hope for the best. Anyone out there RESTORE a lowered car to its prior 4x4 glory? (No - its a IS350 RWD - NOT AWD despite my pun).

Hi 82ndABN I may be able to help you and save you some money. I’m in Toms River so I cant be too far from you. As far as I know the OEM shocks aren’t adjustable and I’m sure someone can confirm this. I have 18”” gunmetal Enkei EKM3 rims with staggered Sumitomo HRTZ 3 summer tires with about 6K on them. Including a fifth wheel, lugs, locks, center rings. Asking $500 and I’m firm on these. Also have IS 250 OEM springs with 10K on them. Don’t know if they’ll fit or help.Someone here can help with this too. Asking $50. Also have OEM axle back exhaust with 10K on it. Asking $50. Stock grille from 08 IS250 in perfect condition. Asking $40. Just traded in my 08 IS250 this week so that’s why these parts are for sale. Whether you buy anything or not hope you get your problems solved. Thanks and take care. John

I have to do brakes and rotors - and will soon be wondering what everyone prefers for the best blend of performance /costs - all four corners need replacement, and a noise from the right rear revealed its caliper is compromised as well. Having the wheel off - I could see my mechanic was wrong. No way these are Lexus shocks - I believe they are

They do ride very well considering how low the car sits.

Tony you can probably soak the threads with WD40 or PB blaster on the coil overs and in a couple days you shud be able to adjust them. Maybe try to clean them with a toothbrush after soaking. Keep in touch and I will try to help you as much as possible. That’s what we are here for.To help Lexus owners as much as possible——John

Yup, definitely BC coils. Brake wise , I went with stoptech slotted axle packs with black hubs. I think I purchased thru parts geek or Jegs. Leaning towards Jegs because I think I entered my email for 10% off.

Grab a cheap set of stiff wire brushes at what store you have access to (Harbor Freight?) to help knock off that rust/build-up AFTER hitting it with PB Blaster or similar solutions.
