Default Question about wheels and ride height

I have stock 17's on my 250. I'm looking at getting either some 19's or 18's to fill the arch with minimal gap. But I really don't know how do these things work? From what I understand the springs on the shocks allow the car to go lower the more weight that is added. So let's say if I was to add some wheels that have a smaller gap between wheel and arch, then doesn't that mean if I keep original springs and load the car with passengers then will the car not go lower and the wheel start running?

How exactly are these things dealt with? I want to try and get a nice fill in the arch but don't have a clue where to even start. Got my eyes on some stock 18's or maybe it I can get some stock ISF 19's. How will this work with stock springs and height?

Would really appreciate some help. Completely new to this ride height stuff

There are two ways of lowering your car, either by installing lowering springs or coilovers.
Use search window in the upper right corner and you will see hundreds if not thousands threads on the subject (log out before search).
For better response in the future use Normal Threads not Sub-Forums.

Good Luck

Get going on your ride height whether its c/o's or springs/strut to where you want it First....Then start checking on the wheel sizing= width & offset first & diameter last. The diameter will dictate your location, whether the roads/freeways are smooth or not...For a everyday vehicle, I'd go w/ 18's vs 19'', 20''s....

What if I keep height and everything stock OEM and just put ISF 19's? Will it work and what happens when car is loaded with weight? Will spring drop cause it to touch rubber or anything?

17” wheels means you have an AWD I presume. Which would present another obstacle depending on which wheel set up you choose.

No I have rear wheel drive IS250 with stock 17" wheels. Wanting to put the stock ISF 19" rims on with stock height set up. I read people have done it. But question is if car is loaded up does the car go low and touch the rubber or anything?
