coilover upkeep
#2
From what people have told me, just check the rings every now and then. TEIN has a tendency for the rings to get stuck because of dirt. You can also put wd-40 to clean the dirty spots. My friend has TEIN's on for 4 years with no problems.

Sure there is upkeep on coilovers but it really depends on how and where you drive.
I have TEIN flex and live in NJ. However, I never drive my car in rain or snow. I do get my TEINS maintained and serviced as well as all my other suspension mods once a year. Total cost is about $300. Even though I don't drive in rain or snow...a lot of dirt and road grime still manages to get underneath the undercarriage. To keep everything in tip top shape its worth getting things maintained/cleaned/serviced.
Oh, and I grease my sway bars 2 times year which is a must for me otherwise I am SQUEAKING
Just like waxing the car to keep it clean from the outside, it also very important to maintain and keep things clean from the underside.
But to answer your question, there is maintenance with any suspension mod because it is non-factory item and needs to be serviced on a regular basis.
TEIN has a whole page dedicated to maintaining and cleaning the coilovers.
