If none of these brands are worth it I will just replace the Strut by itself with the KYB brand.

DONT get the pre assembled one. It’s garbage compared to reusing your old oem spring and buying a quality strut. That’s cheap and quick but you will have a better ride with oem struts and reusing your old spring

The preassembled spring strut assemblies are made in China, low-quality stuffs and will fail early. You don't want to install crap on your high-performance car.

KYB supplies OEM struts to car mfrs. A pair of KYB AGX adjustable struts lasted me over 150K miles in a Celica GTS, no leaks, still ran solid and stable. They would probably last longer, but I curbed a wheel so I replaced them myself just to make sure. I am not a mechanic and have only a bunch of hand tools.

KYB struts at Rock Auto go for about $200 a pair, plus 1-hour labor to install.

Bring them to your local mech or You can borrow spring compressor tool from auto part stores and do it yourself. Easier to use a power tool to tighten down the 2 nuts evenly. Piece of cake.

well you should never buy oem from a dealer. You should order them from a site that has good prices like the one I mentioned. eBay has good deals from a lot of Lexus dealers as well. I’m curious how your car is gonna ride with new KYB rear struts and old oem front struts. Why aren’t you replacing all 4?

even if the oem struts from Lexus are made by KYB they sure aren’t made to the same standards as the regular KYB stuff. Nobody is saying KYB is bad but it sure isn’t the SAME as oem KYB. Lexus can have certain specs or criteria that has to be met where as KYB can just sell you the same strut they sell for every car just made to fit the GS. I am sure KYB is still the best option if OEM isn’t affordable.

No, it is common knowledge that Lexus provides specs and works with their OEMs to make parts to their demands. A KYB in a Lexus is not necessarily identical to KYB off the shelf. Personal experience backs this up, replacement KYB does not have the same valving and "Lexus ride" and it's not just me that notices there are dozens of posts on this forum about this. Not to say KYB is bad, quite the opposite they are very reliable and durable but their aftermarket struts/shocks use basically same valving for everything.

In some cases this valving ends up being close to the originals, in others it changes the ride dynamics significantly.

Why shouldn’t you get them from a dealer? I don’t trust eBay

Also the front struts are good and I can’t afford to replace them right now

i mean don’t purchase them from a local dealer IN STORE. It’s always a ripoff unless you know someone with a shop you get 20% off and no tax which I do sometimes. eBay is fine if you order from a reputable seller. Many of the sellers are Lexus dealers. Check their profile. However in my experience the cheapest prices online is discountpartsmonster.com. They are a dealer from Florida. I get all my parts from there.

LOL. Good one! But yea basically what Lex2K said. You’ve been on here a long time like me and your a moderator I’m surprised you haven’t seen the threads of people stating the difference in ride quality. Especially the fact he’s ONLY changing the rear. Why would you want two struts with different valve specs on the rear then the front. In this case I would recommend only getting oem or just replacing all 4 with the best ones KYB makes if OEM is out of budget
