i had a feeling I was being screwed. i will check a couple a other dealers. I read on a thread that it was done for 300 bucks. They made it seem that it was a big job. changing spring should be relatively easy. i dont know why they told me that other than to screw me or to discourage me from doing it. the money isnt the issue, i have money. its the priciple. this car is going to get dropped eeven if i lower it at a cali lexus dealer. my parents line in LA. Even my old G35 I had taken to a shop called technosquare to have the ecu retuned. I will goto legths to mod, but I dont want to get cheated

why do you have to get it done at lexus dealership? i mean, th car is nothing that special, and i don't see any reason why techs at dealership has to be "better". i have hardly go to dealership for any aftermarket mods at all. find a good local shop and that's it
changing coilover is actually easier, coz' you take out the whole spring/shock assembly and replace with the coilovers. changing springs are a bit more involved since you have to disamble the unit to change the springs, which a lot of times you need springs compressor.
but either way, 2 hours should be MORE than enough to change springs/coilovers. 500 and hour for changing springs? sigh

tanabe's $230
Labor $175 (took 2 hrs for 1 dude)
lowered ride...almost priceless
i watched and talked to my tech while he was doing the whole thing...it was nothing that only a lexus tech could handle...the main thing it looked as if you had to have the spring compressor when switching out...it also just takes a little bit of time to remove trunk paneling.
also, while you are there, paint your calipers at the same time when everything is off. i had my tech just touch up mine...took no time

I don't feel bad now, knowing someone else is having problems with spring installation. I found some instructions online. I think I'm' going to give it a try myself. If someone is going to tear up my car, it might as well be me .....

Yes, major camber in the back. debating whether or not to get a camber kit to fix the problem. my guy says that i don't need to. i'll see how bad my tires wear out in a few thousand miles. btw, springs were 250, install 180

The real question is: I hardly heard of any Lexus dealership "allowing" lowering. As soon as you open your mouth, they tell you about voiding your warranty. So if dealership going to do the installation and will stand behind the warranty (and any issues coming out of the install in the future), it might be not such a bad idea to pay for the "peace of mind". As long as you get everything in writing...
