I was wondering if I would have any problems with my awd gs300 if I only change springs on the car. I want to get tein h tech springs. If you think coilovers are better, what would you consider getting?

check the suspension forum for the 3gs. springs are hit and miss for vibrations, as are the coilovers. BC makes the only awd coilovers to this point. i have vibrations, but i am also pretty well dumped. it all depends on the look you want and what you are willing to compromise to get it.

ive heard nothing but problems with people trying to drop their AWD 3GS's. like ryan78 said, BC makes a coilover for the AWD. apparently the vibrations are minimal if any at all with their coilovers.

it all depends on how low you want to go. if you want to be lower than say 2" i would get coils for the fact of the fully assembled system with adjustable dampening. Anything above 2" you should do springs. The stock struts/shocks should be fine to handle that small of a drop.

I want to lower my car about 1in, just want to get a better appearance. Don't want to lower it too much because it's a daily driver plus I don't want to have any problems with it.

lol. i can certainly understand that. i'm happy with the flexibility of the coilovers, which is another good benefit. vibrations are a btch right now for me, so i'll be raising up soon. i never had the rattle issues that have been frequently posted, but i do now because of the drop. i get to tweak away to find the right ride height with the least issues, which is cool. although if i had a RWD, i could keep it tucked and have no worries. damn AWD. lol.

i always had slight vibration at idle; i put my car in neutral once i hit a red light. i think this is due to the load put on the tranny and therefore axles due to the AWD. my vibrations started with the stock suspension when i put on my 20's. it only occurred during deceleration though - when i let my foot off of the gas, and only at higher speed. when i lowered it, the vibrations became more pronounced from roughly 30mph on and during accel and decel. i believe that we (forum peeps and my mechanic) came to an agreement that this is most likely due to the front axles coming out of harmonic balance, ie wobbling, due to the increased or decreased angle. the sad thing is that my car has a very nice stance right now, but i bought a lexus, and while i will give up a little of the ride comfort for looks i cannot accept riding around in a $50k car that feels like an 16yr old cut the springs on a civic...so now i have to raise it back up. i'm thinking about going a whole different direction with this - mud tires and a lift kit. if i have to ride with monstertruck gap, then damnit, i'm going to do it right. lol. i just need to find some nice fender flares...
