Ohlins is a really good company, but man those are really expensive coilovers. They are more expensive then my DG-5 when i had my SC.

They are indeed expensive but Ohlins has high quality and dependable suspension components.

looks very similar to the DG-5 I've had for over a month now. One shop tried to charge me a grand to install them(second quote ran to 6 hundred quickly; with the excuse that it's a new car). Maybe they thought I fell off the wagon and hit my head, but I told them thanks but no thanks. I didn't have the tools at the time so I've ordered the tools. I got mine from Japan through a friend and the only warning he gave to me was that the rear is a pain in the you know what if you try to do it by yourself. I saved some coin compared to the price of the Ohlins. An alignement for staggered 20's will be my next headache whenever I get it done.

Do you have more info on why the rear is a PITA? The special tools you ordered were specifically for the rear? I've dropped many cars in my day and would like to be prepared when the time comes.

It's nothing too major other than the removal angle to the rear is tricky and a little extra support will be a good idea. Installation is easier than removal as always. I didn't have any tools for the job period, so I had to get everything from scratch, not any particular special tool. A handyman tool kit would not have helped me to get the job done so I just ordered some upgraded tools suited for the job. I'm a weekend wrencher mostly, but most pro installers should aready have everything on hand. I figured I'd save the coin and do it myself this time.

So you lose all of the driving modes with coilovers, correct?

Im guessing its around 3+, but could be wrong . When i had my SC i paid 3 but it retail for 46.

JayRo those are Fortuner-DG right? Are they for the 4GS? The bottom rear knuckle doesn't look right. It looks like it will touch the axles. shouldn't it get thinner in the end?

Yes they are the Fortuner-DG. I picked them up for around 2.5k . I saw these mounted on a JDM 13GS F ( the test car) prior to purchase The one I have is basically one of their first run so I had a good view of the final stance of the car after install. The production price may be over 3k with the current exchange rate right now. I got ahead of myself siince I had aftermarket parts in storage before I even had keys to the car. I know I would lose sport+ functions but I an still tune manually from the top. My set was pre-set at 16. I wanted the air-suspension but they were not finished with street testing yet.The Ohlins type looks great but it was not available at the time I got my set.

Finally got off my rear and did some wrench time with my DG-5's on my GS 13F-Sport. If anyone gets the Ohlins set up it should look similar after install. I still have room to go lower but I think it's already there. I may change the position of the spring later but for now I wanted to test fit to see how low I could go; and it goes low enough for my tires to eat plastic.

Did you happen to take more pics during the install? Perhaps a DIY?
