Spring Noise After Replacing Rear Shocks?
Hello
I took my car to a local mechanic and asked him to install a pair of rear shocks in my 2011 GS 350... I had purchased the shocks myself
(KYB Shock SET-KY551108) http://www.usautoparts.net/catalog?Ntt=SET-KY551108&searchType=global&shopId=1&searchType=global&N=0
(is the above part correct? )
So the mechanic made the repair, just replaced the shocks - kept original springs.
after the repair was made I heard some noise... rattling sound coming from my rear fender wells..
I brought it back to him and he tightened some stuff down and the noise wasn't as bad, but never really went away ... I brought it back to him again and said it still persisted he tightened everything down and the noise improved, but after a couple of days I started hearing the clanking noise again
The Mechanic told me that... "It was just the spring, finding it's place"... which is BS, because it never used to make that noise
Also my AFS light is flashing - I saw on some other posts about the leveling sensor needing to be adjusted ... SO I think I understand what is happening with the flashing light.. however I still continue to hear a spring noise sometimes when I turn a corner or go over some bumps.
Any Idea on how to make the spring noise go away?
The noise sounds like two pieces of metal clanking together...
It only happens when cornering or when going over bumps ... the car sounds and feels fine driving in a straight line down the highway.

So I took My car to the lexus dealer to be diagnosed... They basically didn't diagnose my car's problem... all they said that it is an unexpected problem that comes from using after market shocks and told me in order to fix it it would have to be done the "Lexus Way" with using OEM parts and quoted me $1200 to replace the rear shocks "The Lexus Way"
So that was some what disappointing.... Thinking of removing the whole factory springs set up and replace rear shocks with coilovers... I'm hoping that will fix the issue I am having of the after market shocks not playing nicely with factory springs
Anyone ever tried just replaing the rear shocks only with coilovers? would that be an ok thing to do?

I just replaced a Rear right blown strut cartridge (55k on them) BC Racing unit and I have a clunk when I go over hard bumps too and it wasnt there befiore, I am a little perplexed, maybe it is the strut mount I reused that had 55k miles on it, but it looked and felt good. Or I didnt check the preload correctly.
