500h disappointing MPG

Tx 350 mpg
I am at about 700 miles and am averaging around 21.7 so far. This includes significant highway driving (we got around 25-27 on the way to Charleston and back), as well as sitting idling for an hour with the ac on at the dealer getting a tech tutorial.

They are the 20 inch wheels. I am getting around 20 mpg in my daily travels. I am retired, and most of my trips are not more than a couple of miles. I am really pleased, so far.
The car I traded in to get the TX was a 2011 LS 460 that I put 160k miles on. It was the best car ever, but I was ready for something new that I could dependably take on our road trips. I often got 27 mpg on the highway in the LS. I'm told (by my lead footed wife) that I drive like an old man.

I bought my TX in early May L Certified with 1530 miles on it. Earlier this week, I took a two day business trip that was mostly low traffic freeway driving through the California Central Coast wine country. The TX had 3500 miles on it when I started the trip and I cleared all the mileage data before leaving with a full tank. My TX is the F Sport, so 22" wheels. I put about 400 miles on the truck and the mileage is reporting 25.4 MPG. I did hit a small amount of stop and go traffic but very little city driving. My old Pilot would have gotten 27-28 MPG on the same trip as I've done it before. Overall, I'm pretty happy as the TX is way more fun to drive than the Pilot. My last one was a 2017, and I know the new Pilots are better than what I had, but I think the TX is much more enjoyable to own.

My son just purchased TX500H for us just last month. It gives only 21 to 22 MPG. Very disappointed. I feel like its power regeneration system is not working as it should. When I release acceleration pedal, I don't feel any drag on it.
