Default Gas Mileage on TX350

The specs for the TX350 says 21 in the city and 23 combined using premium gas. By the car's computer I'm nowhere near that. Coming from a 2020 RX350 using mid grade I got better.
Maybe after the break-in period it will get better, but wondering what you're averaging.

thx

22.8 is the max I have seen on some highway trips. I’m on 18” snows with a roof box and highway speeds are not close to 55 where they do their ratings. I am going to sugarbush from Boston area this weekend and should know more as the car has 1100 miles already. I should be at 1500 by the end of the weekend and will keep you posted.

filling up with 91/93 helps and also there seems to be a tipping point where mpg sinks like a rock after 70 something mph or so.

make sure your tires are properly inflated. I am running 36psi cold on 18s which is 1psi higher than the grand highlander calls for on 18s.

how many miles do you have?

we’ve got over 1600 miles on ours and it’s just under 20. Most of my wife’s driving is very short around the neighborhood and it was getting around 16-17. Then we took it on a road trip and that brought the average up to 21 but now it’s ticking back down with the short trips. For highway driving it seems accurate but certainly not with a lot of stopping and starting.

if you depress the brake pedal enough while stopped the auto stop/start system will kick off the engine which will help for sure in stop and go driving.

you can also store that history and start over in the "trip information" menu by clicking the car icon on the left bar in the infotainment. after storing your "history" you reset it and start from scratch and if you are going to take a long highway trip you can then get a much better read on your gas mileage looking at the numbers after a fresh start.

yesterday I was getting just over 21 around town more or less which is pretty good to me...

Still on my first tank, so a little premature on my part but just curious.
Appreciate the info.

I've only been driving around town with little hwy and getting 15mpg according to the computer. I only have a little over100 miles
So far I really like it very, sharp looking with penalty of room.
Thank you for you input.

no problem. Mpg is getting better. I have had the car 11 days and have 1700 miles now.

we reset the mpg before a long road trip and got 26mpg and that was with the cruise set at 75+ for a lot of the driving. That included some city driving so it seems to be getting the stated mpg.

is your TX350 all wheel drive?

I was getting about 23.3 over a long trip on the highway at 80ish with snow tires and a roof box. I bet it will do better on all-seasons without the roof box. seems ok to me. tank size is kind of small, but there is nothing I can do about that...

not all wheel drive and we didn’t have a roof box on ours. Tank is definitely small though so you have to fill up more often but luckily we don’t put many miles in it each month so it’s not that big of a deal.

the FWD model in one of the magazine road tests demonstrated 31mpg in cruise control at 75mph on the highway. I wonder if your tires are a bit low or if you are on winter blend gas, neither of those help. The FWD TX 350 should definitely get more than 26mpg on the highway unless you are doing 90+ for stretches or driving with a lead foot...

I used a milwaukee air pump that lets you put in the desired PSI right before we left so they were spot on. We never touched 31 MPG even when doing 60-65 in the city. Maybe they were on a perfectly flat road and didn't have to slow down/speed up much like normal driving on the interstate, especially I-10 which is crowded. We also got held up in traffic at the baton rouge bridge which anyone that travels that knows can be a long wait and hurts the gas mileage. We also did some normal driving in and around the town we went to which lowered it to 26 but it was around 28 for the pure interstate portion of the trip. I'm happy with this MPG and certainly glad we decided against paying the extra cost for the hybrid as it doesn't seem worth it so far based on other threads.

that makes sense for sure and is pretty good. I assume you are feeding it 91 octane gasoline or higher per what lexus is recommending?
