Is anyone ACTUALLY getting 27-31mpg? Seems like no one is getting what is EPA rated and it’s borderline false advertised as if the vehicle is fuel efficient in any way..
everything im reading is that people are getting 17-23mpg.
unfortunately, I’m going to pull out of a deal with the local Lexus because of what I’m seeing as the MPG is the deal breaker.

you said you are considering pulling out of the deal with your local lexus dealer... are you just going to live with the current vehicle you have right now or are you contemplating something different in the same category (size, towing, passengers, cargo room, etc.) that is not from lexus or is not a toyota grand highlander?
also, how many miles do you drive a year? how long do you plan on keeping the TX? and is a majority of the miles you put on the vehicle at reasonable speeds or more stop-and-go driving?
with a combined MPG rating that is about 5 higher with the 500h than the 350 2.4L turbo, and the current gas prices around $4 a gallon, you would have to drive about 175K miles or own the car for around 10 years (at 17.5K per year) to break even with the 500h being around $7000 more than the gas TX 350 offering... I would also caution anyone who is looking to take a TX 500h over 150K miles they may be looking at a hybrid battery replacement which is expensive and not factored into this current cost of ownership I am breaking down above...
just food for thought... sometimes buying a hybrid doesn't really make all that much financial sense. if you are an uber driver in an urban environment who wants maximum return on investment a (small) hybrid passenger car makes a ton of sense. a large hybrid 3 row SUV doesn't always make sense...
TLDR: what are you cross shopping the TX with?

Based on what I've read, there is a break in period (some more than 2000 miles) before the true MPG starts up. I'm not sure anyone has driven this new car that much yet, or at least is in here to chime in. I kinda remember my 3rd gen Prius took a bit to get to 50+ mpg consistently.
ps. I don't think the EPA would lie on this just to make Lexus happy, or that Lexus would outright lie to **** off so many people on something that's easy to check.

I've got 1800 miles on mine and haven't come anywhere close to the rated MPG - even when driving really conservatively to just try it. Very disappointing. Maybe it will get better in another 1000 miles but i seriously doubt it. Somehow Lexus gamed the EPA test to get this result.
