Default Help me TX 350 versus TX550h, is mpg difference of 7/2/4 (city/hyw/cmb) HUGE deal?

Hello,

Given the audiences here, probably a stupid question, but ask anyway...

I've done as much research as i can, read and watched materials online, comparison details between TX and GH on a comparable basis, TX 350 Luxury and GH Platinum/Hybrid Max Platinum.

Anyone here ended up getting the TX350 LUXURY AWD over the Grand Highlander Platinum/Hybrid Max Platinum?

Okay, so forget about GH.

Between the TX 350 (LUXURY AWD) and TX 500h LUXURY, this being the wife's daily, F SPORT PERFORMANCE AWD, what am i doing..... And there is $10,000 difference between these 2 trims.

TX 350, mpg is 20/26/23 AWD.

TX 550h mpg is 27/28/27.

Difference of 7/2/4 CTY/HWY/CMB.

With 17.8 gal fuel tank, that's 125/36/71 miles (CTY/HWY/CMB) difference from each fill up.

Damn...

The TX-550h has a v6 with a little over 400hp if that matters in your comparison.

All other things being equal (ignoring differences in residual value, intangibles for power differences, or differences in repair costs, for example), the breakeven miles (at $4.25 per gallon would be): 181 thousand/858 thousand /365 thousand.

I thought long and hard about this, and decided on the 350. The tiebreaker was that the hybrid is essentially two different engine systems strapped together (in the simple, non-engineering way that my mind works) that would likely have more problems and require more maintenance/repairs due to increased complexity.

from a fuel economy standpoint it doesn’t pencil out.

if you want the performance it definitely does.

I went for the cheapest one with the options my wife wanted.

(Tx350 premium)

if i was driving it?

probably would have gotten the TX550H+

I came from a '23 Camry V6 (301HP) and bought a TX 350 AWD Luxury (276HP??) and Im so happy with my TX right now 1000 miles so far and averaging 21.7MPG (mountains and city). OTD 64K - 37K (trade in) 27K+taxs =30.4K @ 5.99%
