Hi all,
I may buy a Lexus UX250h, but first I want to evaluate the feasibility of having a space saver wheel stored in the boot (I don't want runflat tires).
I am planning to buy the optional space saver wheel offered by Toyota for the CH-R with dimensions 145/90 R16, or, another option is 135/90 R17, which is also compatible.
Since for a couple of weeks I will not be able to inspect a Lexus UX250h nearby, I would really appreciate if someone could share measurements of the space available underneath the cargo floor.
I have attached three pictures showing the measurements needed (ideally 2021+):
- length and width (l and w) beneath the cargo floor: https://postimg.cc/XZq7RBJK
- height (h1) beneath the cargo floor (inside the storage compartment): https://postimg.cc/pmHtQhzV
- height (h2) beneath the storage compartment (down to the metal): https://postimg.cc/v1xjpGW2
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi paz6
I picked up my 2023 UX250h with Runflats at the end of September 2022 and had some similar concerns.
My previous car was a 2017 Volt had no spare, and I seriously looked at getting a space saver. I never did. No flats for 6 years
The Runflats actually saved me a hassle. I ran over a nail, but had plenty of time to get to my local tire dealer...$45 later the flat was fixed and I was back home...all within one hour.
The space in the back of my UX while not huge is full of everyday useful stuff...so much so that it will take a while to get your measurements
Bottom Line ~ I would suggest waiting on the spare, give the runflats a few months and travel with a box approximating the size of your spare. My guess is the runflats will win out

Hi Bill,
It is definitely a difficult tradeoff between having a spare wheel or extra usable space in a relatively small boot.
However, I really don't like the fact that runflat tires are noisier and cause a rougher ride.
Moreover, in case of a small repairable damage, like a puncture for instance, from what I've read online, driving with the flat runflat tire over a long distance may damage the tire structure causing it to become irreparable (may be OK for short distances though, and also it seems to have worked well in your case).
I will probably use the runflat tires until they wear out, then replace them with non runflat tires.

Perhaps h1 measurement from the side of the compartment beneath the cargo floor, could also be easily done without moving too much stuff, and you can ignore h2: I think l, w, and h1 are the most important. I will deal with h2 afterwards (I think h1 + h2 will be more than enough for the space saver wheel anyways).

Ok, paz6 here are your dimensions...
l x w = 30" x 31"
h1 = 5"

ps. Runflats seem to get mixed reviews online. Noise varies by model of tire but perhaps more by model of vehicle ~ The 2023 UX added more noise deadening and honestly I am unaware of any tire noise - maybe it helps to be 75! Nor am I aware of handling issues but a Lexus is not a BMW, where many of the runflat complaints seem to really be an issue. The safety aspect for me outweighs any downsides.

Thanks a lot!
I think the space saver wheel will fit but only with the plastic organizer removed.
Toyota sells a special foam divider adapted to the CH-R's space saver wheel, but I don´t know if that exists for the UX.

Well, whether the CH-R's spare tire will fit or not underneath the UX250h's cargo floor remains to be verified, because the height of the CH-R is 1.5cm more than that of the UX, with 1 cm less ground clearance. But there are thinner space saver wheels that will likely fit.

Why not just pay for Lexus Safety Connect or Roadside Assistance with your insurance company?
Plus, you’d save on the added weight of carrying the spare tire, jack, and lug nut wrench for a couple dollars a month.
