Default UX should have the Camry’s engine

The 2025 Camry has an upgraded version of the new Prius engine, and puts out 232hp in AWD form, while still getting 44mpg on a car that is presumably heavier than the UX.

So faster and better mpg … I’m not sure why the UX didn’t get this drivetrain?

As a 2025 UX300h owner, I’d have to say that the new engine is rather perfect. “Don’t change a thing.” I’m not aware of the new engine and new hybrid configuration asking for any improvements.

the 2025 Camry does not have a version of the Prius engine. the Prius is a 2.0L and the Camry has a 2.5. It is a fifth-gen setup, however. Clearly for Lexus/Toyota its Prius-Ux300 and NX- Rav4/Camry as their direct lines. I thought about holding for a Camry but pulled the trigger on my UX 300h Premium. Toyota is trying to pack its sedan with stronger tech/value to keep it #1. Also, it's still made in the US.... gimme a Japanese car built in Japan all day, which the 300h is

The Camry is too big for me. Prior to 2024, It seems like the Lexus powertrains and Safety Systems are a step behind the Prius. I opted for the UX, since the Prius is very hard to get locally and dealers aren't giving any discounts. I'll have to agree to stick with a Japanese built car. Hope the UAW doesn't get my address.

I just picked up my 2025 UX 300h, and I think the 2.0L with the 5th-gen hybrid system is very appropriate for the car. My other car has much more HP than my UX, and I definitely wouldn't mind more power in the UX, but I haven't really been searching for more after driving my UX around. And if the new Camry has the same 2.5L as the NX 350h, then I wouldn't want it anyways. I test drove a new NX 350h at the same time as the UX 300h, and the NX's engine was loud and buzzy, and that contributed to me going with the UX.

Thanks for the info on the NX. I'm happy with power the UX has, even at this altitude. I would rather get the better mileage than the performance. Usually, can't have one without the other.
