Default Custom Stereo in your UX

Just looking to see if anyone has customized their stereo in the UX?
I was thinking of adding an aftermarket amp and box for some deeper bass. Any tips/help is welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Meeting with a local audio shop tomorrow

i was unaware that the No-Navigation option also robbed the Center and Subwoofer speakers, in hindsight I wish I would’ve got the Nav.

buttt since I already bought this thing, yes, something definitely has to be done about the speakers.

Will update with their proposed ideas, pictures, and results!!

I added a Pioneer powered sub. TS-WX1210A. Gives the stereo more oomph.

Pics? I've been looking at powered-subs in the essence of saving space. Probably wouldn't run anything bigger then 8" or 10", not looking for anything earth shattering..

Thanks for the information.
Yeah the sound system with no navigation option is ok at best.
I also have a amp and 10" sub I want to hook up. How did you connect to the existing stereo?
Thanks!

Here's a picture. The installer had to splice the speaker wire to get an input. The sub comes with a controller **** mounted up front.

The improvement the sub makes is pretty substantial.

I had a powered 12inch sub by Rockford Fosgate in my LS which also had the remote controller up front, it was great, but I parted that out when i sold the car and I'm glad I did as I don't think it would give me much trunk room if any in the UX

Agreed, the sub does take up a lot of trunk space but it's something I can live with.

Looked to me that the rear speakers are in the doors, that correct?
Did you have to splice into left and right speakers? Did you need a line level converter and then wire to the amp?
@aribter I also have a controller **** I wanted to mount up front, where did you end up putting yours?

The installer spliced the rear door speaker to get an input, the Pioneer sub is a powered sub that can accept line level or speaker inputs, so no you don't need a line level converter.

Here's a pic of where the controller is mounted. I will move it when the weather warms up, it's a bit awkward to adjust the sub while driving.

I have a DIY in my thread history on adding a sub to your lexus. pretty much same procedure for most cars that have the amp in the rear cargo area. yes you'd tap the rear speakers at the input of the amp into a LOC which you would plug your RCA pair into. assuming you've wired up your power, ground, and remote wire. pretty simple =)

You might want to check this out regarding the location of the subwoofer magnet causing the Hybrid system to fail on a Prius Prime:

https://priuschat.com/threads/someth...ailure.214482/

But based on OP, looks like a standard UX and not UXh and might not be applicable but be aware if you have UXh.

Knock on wood. Haven't had any issues on my ux250h and I've had the sub for around 2 months now.

As a matter of fact as the weather warms up fuel economy has improved a fair bit as well.

Hi I was wondering if you knew the location of the amp in the ux250h, TIA.

I've read some crazy story on PriusChat (linked through I think the NX subforum) about aftermarket subs potentially messing with the hybrid system - not sure how accurate it is but still a small eyebrow raiser.
