Hello all,

It’s been a month since I picked up the UX 250h and recently I noticed while driving with window down that there was high pitch metallic or whining sound coming from either engine or transmission.

is this supposed to be a normal thing with CVT? Sorry it’s my first time with CVT and l’m very surprised that this kind of annoying sound is coming from the brand new car. It’s pretty loud to be honest.

Would appreciate it if you guys can share your experience.

Have not experienced this in any CVT vehicle I've owned, that being the UX and the prior CT.

It's probably the "Pedestrian Warning System". All of my hybrids have made this sound for a few years now. It makes it so you can't sneak up on pedestrians, especially those that are visually impaired at crosswalks, parking lots, etc.

If you're talking about that noise, I personally find it fun/ny, reminds me of a Jetson mobile when I drive/slow down, haha.
