Default Chronic Check Engine light

We have a 2020 UX250H that we purchased new in February 2020. Since then, the Check Engine light has come on 6 times. I have a check engine code reader and it basically told me “P0430: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)”. We took it to the dealer each time. The first time we were told they us it was probably just the gas cap and reset the code. The second time they said it was because we went too low on gas and reset it again. The third time they reset it again and actually scheduled us for a replacement of the catalytic converter. It came on a forth time while we were waiting for the replacement. After the replacement, it lasted about 5 months, but it has now come on a 5th time, went off a few days later, and has come back on again for a 6th time and is still on. I’ll be calling the dealer again. Anybody else having similar issues with the Check Engine light?

My old 2005 RX330 with 250k miles use to get P0430 every time I drove in heavy rain. It was water got inside the sensor connector. In the end, I had it fixed by a third party shop with a new sensor and new cable connector. For a new vehicle, you should not have this problem. Get it fix before warranty expire. Cat replacement is very expensive.

5 months for a bad cat? It's probably an exhaust leak or bad sensor. Gas cap and fuel level have nothing to do with this code...

Isn't there some kind of lemon law that can make Lexus buy it back? Hopefully its' not a short in the computer or something really deep that no tech would be able to diagnose. Sounds like Lexus wastes tons of money paying dealer service hour claims for bad diagnoses. maybe they'll send an engineer out there if they can't fix it? best of luck

California has Lemon Laws to handle this situation. I don't know about other states.

Default Check Engine light still reoccurring

Since original post check engine light on my UX 250H has come on several times. After the 7th and 8th time dealer kept it for 2 days and replaced ERG valve. That lasted for about a week and came on again for the 9th and 10th time with the same code. It’s back at the dealer now and dealer is consulting with Lexus support HQ. they are suspecting a bad computer and were waiting for HQ approval.

Default Resolved!!

Lexus headquarter support resolved it when they identified one of the parts being incorrect for the manufacture date of the car. Once they put the right generation of the sensor in the car the check engine light is no longer coming out

I’m glad Lexus take care their customers, but that’s still pretty crazy. How long did they kept the car?

The Lexus dealer had the car 2 days, and they gave a loaner for the time they had the UX
