Smile Snowball: Teaser of painted wheel arches

I noticed the '22 UX F sports came with the option to get color-matched wheel arches. I always tempted myself to get this done and numerous professional shops said they could do it but would not guarantee perfect adhesion over time due to the material of the wheel arch. Also, price quotes from numerous shops, were nearly the same as getting them direct from Lexus.

So, I decided to get these special ordered from Lexus. 3 months later.. they're here and on.

Next up for spring/summer or whenever the wheels/tires deplete..
Get the RX F sport 20" wheels I have powder coated gloss black (already done) .. to be installed. Can't wait for that.

Teaser pics, car is absolutely filthy, sorry.

Nope, sorry should have been more clear.

Those are OEM UX arches, available as an option on the '22 UX's prepainted, instead of the prior years, where they come in the gray/brown finish.

Looks sooooooooooooooo much nicer! This was an option on JDM NX's and they too were pricey. It looks so much better body color to be honest!

I would have done it on my wife's Caviar but since her's is black everything blends in. If it was any other color and especially white, they would have been ordered and replaced.

Nice job! Looks excellent!

tofuprod, would you mind sharing the info regarding the cost, parts and labor?

It's not cheap. But I'm pretty transparent.

I have a pretty good relationship with the SA at Lexus near-ish by me.

I'll say with parts it was about 300/arch, so that nets 1200. Plus labor which was discounted.

Ordered the arches (did not pay until after install was done) back in late August, they all arrived (in separate shipments) by early December.

My net cost for all four was just a hair over 1600 with tax included, etc.

I did keep my original arches, just in case for whatever reason.

It's not a cheap "investment" by any means, but I do think it looks quite good on a white vehicle, especially with the 20 inch gloss black RX F Sport wheels I plan to mount once my OEM tire setup wears out.

They look nice. I do get the idea however of the reason behind the arches being a different color. Visual height/weight.

At least with this smooth finish, you an experiment with wrapping them in gloss black. Though that would take quite a bit of vinyl. maybe $100 worth in materials. If I had a UX F Sport, I'd want them glossy black, preferred painted. But body color is fine too.

Definitely no bare plastic. i can't stand bare plastic.

Did you wrap the door handles in black?

Nope they're actually just covers made for the ES, but the ES door handles (2019 and up) are the same as the UX. I may eventually wrap them but honestly the covers do great and only cost me $40.

I agree with you on the bare plastic as well as why they went that route for height/weight, just my plan with having gloss black wheels later I didn't want more "fill"in that wheel well area more than there already was, so I wanted the white to contrast it more once the wheels go on, if that makes sense.

Do you have a link to the ES door handles you bought?
