Poor Fuel Economy (~30mpg)

Got my 2021 UX250h almost a year ago and my mileage has been sitting constant at around 30.7mpg regardless of season (I'm in NJ).
I don't drive like a maniac, but I'm thinking maybe my commute is keeping the MPGs down. I drive 18 miles each way from just north of the GW bridge to Long Island City, mostly bumper to bumper traffic. Tire pressure is normal, I use Shell 87 gas, and again, I don't think I've been heavy on the throttle. No big hills or anything like that either.
Is it my commute? Could there be something wrong with my car? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

it's likely a mixture of heavier than ideal pedal work and traffic. it's not totally out of the normal range for your type of driving but definitely on the bare minimum low side. See my tips here on how to get better fuel economy:

Thanks for the link/tips, I'll check it over. My last car was a 2013 Prius, so I thought I had a decent handle on how to "game" the system for better mileage, but it just doesn't seem to move the needle on my UX.

I find my UX does best in traffic since the electric motors kick in more often. Currently doing 38 mpg but improving as the weather gets better. During the coldest periods was doing 34.5 mpg.

I'm also getting about 38 mpg right now and when it gets warmer I get around 41mpg.

my experience is even weirder. i only use my 250h when i travel 90 miles each way to pick up my daughter(mostly highway). i use cruise control about 85-90% of the time. until about the first 5k miles, i got a best of 46.2 miles a gallon. i dont know if it was coincidence or not, but my buddy says he puts medium grade gas once in a while to clean out the injectors. i tried doing that just one time and all of a sudden, the economy started going lower. i dont have a heavy foot, but i have done 80's on the highway alot and even done over 100 just to test the car once. the worst i have seen was around 39.3 i believe. ive been conscience about the number so ive been trying to intentionally bring it back up and i finally got it to 40.2. i currently just went over 12k miles. im afraid if i didnt use cruise control or if my travel was more local driving, my fuel economy would be much worse. i know its rated for around 39-40 anyway, but i was getting 45-46 for a long stretch until i put medium grade gas. i hope i didnt ruin any sensors or anything because of that. anyone know whats going on possibly?

Glad to hear it’s not only me.
Driving normal not overly paying attention to the when the electric is running the car or not lucky to get 37 MPG.
Frustrating also that there is still no definitive answer which mode gives us the best mileage for normal driving, sport/Eco/normal?
i’ve read a couple times that sport gives you better mileage than the other two but I don’t know.

Using ECO mode, not sure if one of the others might actually be better.

I live in NJ, got a 2022 new ux250h in september. Barely used the car only for short trips. Twice I drove to work from edgewater to Morristown and got my tank empty last week and the odo was 324 miles which gives a 32.4 mpg. Very disappointing!

Taking off from a stop, you have to very gradually increase your speed, etc.

I live in nj as well.. 2020 base ux.. non hybrid.. get about 42 mpg in the summer.. was doing 36-38 in the winter.. engine was running cold so I took it in.. the techs turned on all of the options in the climate control settings.. eco ac, etc.. back to doing 41-42 mpg and engine is running better again during the winter
I reset my mpg every time I fill the tank
Rarely take the car above 2k rpm, even when accelerating. On the highways, I try to stay consistent with speed.. 65mph is where I get food mpg.. at 70 it starts going down.. I can do 80 sometimes but it needs to be flat terrain.
I’ve driven your commute.. the stop and go is not good.. just makes me think you’re working the throttle too hard
