Going for a 20x10.5 +29 rear wheel on a 2GS, what tire size do you guys suggest I run?.

I will be cutting the rear fenders for clearance.

245 35 20 look nice on 10.5

I prefer a shorter tire on the GS.

I'd use 255/30-20 for a nice stretch.

Then use 225/35-20 up front, the same sidewall height.

Will let you get the car lower and won't rub the front fender plastic as much when turning.

The original owner had a 255/35-20 on the rear, but because of the offsets, it looks a little bit too pushed out, so i was thinking of running a 245/35-20 for more of a stretch.



Thoughts?

Or is it just because it needs more of a drop, and it will camber in more?

i just bought a set of wheels with tires so i was going to swap tires and sell the wheels, the tire size are 275/30/20 rears and 245/35/20 front. Current wheels are 285/30/20 rear and 255/30/20. rear wheels are 10.5 and front are 9.5. from reading the 245/35 will look better in the rear but i dont want to go and get another set of tires for the front. i do want to drop it a little more. Now that im reading this thread it has me thinking.

It needs more of a drop. And yes, it'll camber more as it goes lower. Looks like you could pull it off with the tire that's already on there. No need to stretch the tire more if there aren't any rubbing issues after more lowering.

How did you manage to scrape/bang up your exhaust tip with so much clearance?

I'm not sure if there will be rubbing issues after more of a drop. I'm pretty sure i have to shave the fenders for clearance though, cuz of the offsets. I want to do as little of a stretch as possible, as i daily drive my car, and can't afford any mishaps with the tire/wheel.

As of right now, I think it might be a 245/35-20 on all 4 corners, fronts are 20x9 +30, so don't think a stretch will be necessary.

As for the exhaust, i'm not sure, since its not my car. That's the original owner of the wheels - his car.

Think the 245/35-20 is ok? I like Bob's recommendation, but I don't know if i should stretch the front if i don't have to. I like how the sidewall would match nicely though with a 255/30 and 225/35.

man now you got me thinking. the current front tires are 255/30/20. i can put 245/35/20 new in front and put the old front in the rear for that nice stretch look on a 10.5 wheels. offset on both are 35 now i have an extra set of tires 275/35/20. i guess i can keep till i need new rears and i will just swap them since front have 50% treat left.

I said i was going to put 245/35/20 because i already bought the tires 245/35/20 front and 275/30/20 replacing 255/30/20 front and 285/30/20. but i got the wheels before i read this tread. i didnt want to go to skinny but i do like the stretch look so i might consider 225/35/20. Im in between.

well, i put the 255/30/20 in rear from a 285/30 and the rears looks sick. put 245/35/20 but it rubs so i might go with the 225/35/20 so i can get that angle look and stop the rubbing...

Perfect ... 225/35/20 should stretch nicely. What kind of suspension setup do you have? Springs or Coils?
