Default questions for the Universal Air Suspension owner out there.

I'm still having a hard time deciding which shocks i should use for my UAS set up to have a smooth ride for my SC. I've been doing a lot of reading, but still cant make up my mind. I was planning to use my OEM struts to have that OEM luxury ride but I'm sure it won't last long. For the long run, my decision is between KYB GR2 and Bilstein shocks. Can you help me out guys?

Go with the bilsteins. Better yet, go with coilovers if possible. Good luck.

LOL yes I know what you mean, I will be getting bilsteins too on my GS if I don't get coilovers.

you should find out the diameter of the shock body and see if uas has a bracket to fit whichever shock you go with. i know kybs work and i've heard hks coilovers will work also.

KYB's are fine for sport compacts but they die fast on bigger cars. I used to have them years ago and was very disappointed with them. Bilsteins on the other hand are more then worth the extra $200 over KYB. My buddy has GR-2's in his golf that is BARELY lowered and his are already squeaky.

How many miles are on your car? Cause using factory struts with 100,000 miles on them is going to give you the "OEM ride" of a OEM car with 100,000 miles on the factory suspension

Honestly, yes coilovers are expensive, but however long it takes you to save up for coilovers AND UAS, you should do it. The ride quality is directly effected by the Psi. in your bags. If you're running regular shocks, depending on what height you want to ride at, the ride quality might be total crap. Lets say you want to run a 2in wheel gap all around while driving, you might have to run 150psi up front, and 70psi in the rear (just using those numbers as an example) which would make the ride very unbalanced (stiff in the front, soft in the rear, and believe me you can tell every 5psi difference in the bags).

With coilovers you can find a comfortable cruising Psi, then adjust the coilovers accordingly, so you have an even amount of air in all the bags (actually you'd probably run 15-20psi higher in the front because of the weight of the engine), plus youre at your desired cruising height.

Whatever it costs, save up the money and do it right. I ran UAS bags and JIC coilovers on my LS400 and the ride was damn near factory (it would have been totally factory if I turned down the dampening settings but I liked a little firmer ride) and I cruised with the tire treads tucked all day long.

BTW, see if the bags UAS uses for your GS are the same as the ones for LS400's, i have my whole setup for sale minus the compressors for cheap. Im pretty sure theyre the same Aerosport bags, the brackets may be different but theyre bolton and can be bought through UAS.
