It is an old trend of 2 tone but it is not done properly. It is not following any lines of the cars just a wave of colour that does not complement the car its color or its design.

My buddy did a 2 tone with "chip foose" inspired pin stripe. He even 2 toned the door jams, engine bay, gas cap, and trunk.

I personally don't like it on 90% of the cars that do it. If done right, it can look nice. I don't view this as a serious trend that will remain hot over there. These guys are known to get complete make overs and paint jobs more then once a year. This just seems like the seasonal thing to do for them.
I am not worried about it catching on in the US VIP scene since we still have not even caught on to other popular trends that were hot in Japan. Just about every car there has a custom fender vent, a trend that got hot over there since like 06 but yet, its not a popular thing to do over here.
