i'm a month away from 20 and i've bought all 3 of my cars, and paid for all the mods i did to them...this GS i just happened to catch an awesome deal so i couldn't pass it up.
99 maxima: $6400 plus 1500 in mods
99 ML430: $14k, plus another 1750 in mods
01 gs300: $6k (bought it off of my family's business before they traded it for a new company car for my uncle, gave them my ML to trade instead), and coming up on 1500 in mods.
It is doable, but most kids hs aged don't have their priorities straight with their money. I've also been workng since age 12.
But, i won't even try to go full on VIP. Haha my current goal with the GS is a mild VIP style.

All the other cars were done up but we are in a different world/market I am almost done modding the lex , Would love cross stitching interior though

you just gotta know what to look for, and where to look for it.... you can find some used parts for a good price, same goes for rims with low offsets, etc... it also helps if you know people.
it also helps if you are mechanically inclined. you can save alot of money by doing things yourself and not paying to have someone to do it for you... for example, your basic air suspension kit may run you say about $3000 give or take depending on what brand, and installation may run you about $800-$1000... thast $800-$1000 that can go to a used set of staggered rims...
do some serious searching, there are alot of companies popping up that sell JDM parts, other forums I.E. zilvia.net has a for sale subforum and they got some SERIOUS rims...
a friend of mine was able to get a used set of fabulous rims, low offsets, staggered for about $700 shipped from japan... but you gotta remember you get what you pay for, they were all curbed but he knew the condition of them....
if you are mechanically inclined, you can buy a cheap car, fix it, and sell it for more of just build it... i found a 91 LS400 with a leaking front air strut, and bought it for $900. my friend up the block from me had an extra air strut laying around so i picked it up for free, installed it, slapped an extra set of rims i had laying around (i bought from my friend, same that bought it for $700), did some basic maintenance on it, made my own air suspnesion controller, then turned around and sold the car for $5500....
just gotta know what to look for, and where to look for them...... do a bunch of reseach....
