i tried this 10 years ago with a y33 gloria... if its not on the import list with the NHTSA (or whatever acronym they are today) it is very hard to bring one over. however about 2 years ago i was having this very conversation with my best friend whilst standing in line for sausages at the annapolis amish market and this dude behind me explained that he was in the same situation himself and was able to bring a car over in the same manner but have it registered as a show car and was given tags and title but under certain mileage restrictions i believe... he said no one ever checked or cared after he first registered it, if my memory is correct,, but i know my memory sucks so feel free to drop some knowledge on me.
i wish i would have gotten that guys email address or something but had no idea at that time i would be in this position 2 years later. i'm not about to leave japan or anything, and honestly i still have a dream of picking up a late 70's through early 90's toyota president (modded vip style) and bringing that bad boy back over legally as a classic car (i think 25 years or older is all it takes) and keeping that as my old school ultimate vip cruiser...

Good gawd that has the face only a mother could love. At least that is only the grille for the Crown Athlete. The Crown Royal is much cleaner looking in my opinion. But still a little too Audi looking to me. The fenders on the Athlete are also a little more aggressive as they are a little wider and more arched near the hood and the hood is grooved a little similar to the AMG C36
