Question cheapest way to ship wheels?

Hello all. I haven't been around for a while, but I need some advice from anyone with experience in shipping wheels. I am getting rid of the remaining Dronell CA-05's that I have in my garage and I can't seem to find a reasonable (cost-wise) method of shipping them to my fellow CL-ers who want them. For example, one wheel/tire weighing around 56 lbs or so generated a rate quote of about $55.00 from UPS for tGround shipment. Am I missing something here, or should I check out other shippers??? Any other companies come to mind?

Thanks,
Eric

That sounds about right. I paid just under $250 (with UPS) when I shipped my OEM 17 inch chrome wheels from Detriot to the CL buyer in New York back in January this year.

Are you letting the air out of the tires? Also, its easier to cut cardboard circles and use the comercial cling wrap to wrap it up. Less packing material = less cost!

Default Go with Fed Ex!

And DON'T go to one of these shipping outlets-go directly to a Fed Ex shipping center. Big price difference (I found that out the hard way).

fedex ground is cheaper than ups ground.

cardboard and cling wrap is the way to ship. no need to box these unless the buyer wants it this way. if it's super expensive wheels, i would box them up and ship. no need to risk the damage.

thanks, you guys!!! yea, I definitely planned to use flat cardboard and cling wrap for the job. I was just surprised by how much $$$ UPS wants. I will definitely try Fedex to get a quote.

Thanks!!!!
